Biting lippy, outside the chippy<br \/>Gob full of fizz bomber jacketed hands jammed in high<br \/>Up in arms, sticking out like chicken wings, flapping<br \/>Clucking fuck this and fuck that<br \/>Flicking V&rsquo;s, not free to fly<br \/>Leanne, lanky, shrieking streak of &lsquo;Miss!&rsquo;<br \/>Witty, eyeing, disguised lined rims hidden behind<br \/>Sharp as a knife flicked fringe<br \/>Shading every shame filled cringe<\/p>\n<p>All subjects of so much rigid invigilation<br \/>Tiddy-tipped, spit slippy, wetly dreamt of detentions<br \/>Gripped like slurped chipped china mugs gulped and spilled<br \/>Held in belched petrol smells, cider swilled with fry &ndash;ups<br \/>Eyeing up, weighing out, measured in points for their pleasure<br \/>Stiff inches of shifting skin counting you on scribbling fingers<br \/>Summing you up, in and out scratching walls<br \/>Hurtful mis spelt spurting words<br \/>Running out and leaving<br \/>Stale-tasting tell-tale stained pockets of cock-eyed explanations<\/p>\n<p>After all those years of teaching you lessons<br \/>Never reading your need to know<br \/>NO &hellip;..NO&hellip;..NO<br \/>Minus one of them speccy gets noticed you go<br \/>Woe betide you&rsquo;d ever forget it uniformly checked<br \/>Stubby short to skinny strip<br \/>Hanging from the tide marked neck<br \/>Now noosed round a reflection in a dressing table mirror<br \/>A face painted with disgrace<br \/>With no-one waiting till you washed it off<br \/>To bare your face then confiscate that birthday gift from your mum<\/p>\n<p>Full term came and went for some<br \/>An unmarked summer break becoming an endless spiral-bound roundabout<br \/>A mid-afternoon, windblown, swinging groan<br \/>With no bell ringing time to go home<br \/>Down the dole to drum on doors hard<br \/>Then a card and a ticking clock<br \/>On the Verdigris, smocked copper bonnet factory top<br \/>Making dull days, patinaed with wages<br \/>Catalogued to pay for life in reasonable instalments<br \/>24 or 36 weeks<br \/>Outfits in drips to disguise your defeat down the pub<\/p>\n<p>Atmosphere thickly stinking mist of chart hits<br \/>Spewing what was supped in the gutter<br \/>Thrust against throbbing, glugging, tugging<br \/>Filling up belly-aching gaps, swallowing laughs, tapping off happiness<br \/>Getting ribbed, getting bent coins banged in avoiding trouble<br \/>Chasing, knocking back, seeing double<\/p>\n<p>Others would try to get in the club<br \/>The price was too high for you to pay<br \/>And you were too old to run away again<br \/>All your mates had to stay in evenings<br \/>Facing days framed by pram handles<br \/>And pacing familiar avenues<br \/>Dangling struggling little girls<br \/>Heavy with giggles from the hip<br \/>Where you all used to stand about strangling laughs<br \/>Yanking tangles, swapping bangles<br \/>Mixed up ten pence teeth sticking sweet dreams<br \/>Twisted in bags ripped from string<br \/>Escaping tear away paper thin lips<br \/>Skinned suckling pale pink dissolving flying saucers<br \/>Sore ochre cracked areolas with sleeping smiles inside<br \/>That mithered mothers now bribe their daughters with<br \/>Outside Clare&rsquo;s shop beyond the school gates when you were meant to stop<\/p>\n<p>You paid your debts to Great Universal<br \/>Ticking the box to say you would no longer like to be a representative<br \/>And walked out in a patent leather patiently anticipated excellent value for you shoe<br \/>Through the front door this time<br \/>With your mum&rsquo;s packed away sadness and matching set of unused suitcases for all occasions<br \/>Full of qualifications to be somewhere else<br \/>And you slipped into the empty space on the empty bus<br \/>Like a pear drop from Betty&rsquo;s shop<br \/>popped in<br \/>a shared quarter passed between mother and daughter sat on the sofa staring at the blaring telly<br \/>Yelling jokes at soaps her stroking your hair and
