Protest, Words!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n by Sunil Sharma<\/em><\/p>\n Time<\/p>\n words shed their obesity These must become: Lexical units, not disjointed unveil bleak reality The poet must howl again in an idiom that sears They must rage against<\/p>\n the thin-hungry child working in a carpet factory No new Dickens anywhere, Again –<\/p>\n when the wordsmith finds the angry poet should use words to fight and rape, kill and pillage!<\/p>\n The words should hurt,<\/p>\n where it pains the most, expose the abuse of a widow, a mother, the beatings of a poor silent wife The words are jaded. the collective apathy<\/p>\n
of corporatized worlds

dew-fresh
syntax.<\/p>\n
like Allen Ginsberg,<\/p>\n
and cleaves stony hearts!<\/p>\n
for ten-twelve hours,
sweaty and hungry
sad
in dark-dingy dungeons!<\/p>\n
no challenging of social-conscience about
sweat shops in the third-world countries\u2026elsewhere.<\/p>\n
the girl-child being denied<\/p>\n
with sharp edges<\/p>\n
practices that turn men into monsters<\/p>\n
arouse the vestigial morality
buried in layers of urban aloofness;<\/p>\n
a sister or daughter,<\/p>\n
sobbing at midnight,
while her drunk master snores.<\/p>\n
A complete disconnect
between fact and expression.<\/p>\n
Like the cell phone!<\/p>\n
